Question for the day: Who do you go to for advice?

What can we pray with YOU about today?

Good morning,

This is just a reminder that every day, while we are studying God’s Word to add to our website, someone from our ministry, Dysmas Conduit, is holding you up before the Lord in prayer. May He greatly bless you today as you pursue His will and He is glorified through you.

God’s blessings, our love,

George & Sidney Granger

CURRENT PRAYER REQUESTS:

Please pray for Mike and Sandy Brommer as they spread the Lord’s Seed and witness to His glory while on the road today. Please pray also that the Lord will lead them to Kingdom-profitable loads to carry, and that He grants them safe passage today.

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR PASTOR BOB ALLMANN

Please remain in prayer concerning his continued healing and that he is upheld by the Spirit, becoming physically strong as he returns to serving the Lord… what he loves to do!

Please continue to pray for Billy Hamburg, whose doctors found 5 tumors in his bladder. He had surgery June 29th and the biopsy results showed a cancerous condition. He will be undergoing chemo & radiation treatments and will need the Lord’s Hand to overcome his anxiety as well as the cancer.

UPDATE:

After more testing, the doctors have found that, despite the number of tumors found in and around the bladder, that the cancer has NOT spread to any surrounding muscle tissue or organs. They are looking at completely removing the bladder and replacing it with a piece of intestine. WE PRAISE GOD AND GIVE HIM THE GLORY FOR THIS; WE ALSO PRAY THAT BILLY WILL RECOGNIZE THIS AS GOD WORKING IN HIS LIFE!!!!!!!!!

Wes Banks, the son-in-law of Richard and Susan Boothe has been suffering from Crone's disease and recently with an auto-immune disease which is causing some serious problems. The doctors have told him the only treatment is a complete blood replacement which will destroy his immune system. He will have to be in isolation for at least a month and off work until at least the end of the year. The treatment will take place tomorrow (Tuesday Nov 17). He is in need of prayer for God to intervene on his behalf and to bring about a safe and speedy recovery

Please lift up Darren (7 year old) a friend and classmate of Haley Jaster (7 year old) who has been diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma.

Good Morning, Church!

"...the sheep listen to the Shepherd's voice.

He calls His own sheep by name."

John 10:3

We have been letting Jesus teach us about prayer. He has taught us as we have watched Him make prayer His priority and make space in His busy life to actually be still before His Father, re-center His life on His Father, and receive from His Father. Jesus was so pressed and pressured, He had no choice BUT to become a person of prayer.

How are you doing in becoming a person of prayer?

That was our focus yesterday in worship. If you would like to catch that message, click here.

Jesus illustrates what a person of prayer looks like in John 10:2-5. He says it's like a Shepherd and His sheep. He makes these points:

The sheep listen to the Shepherd's voice.

The Shepherd interacts with each sheep individually (He calls them by name).

The Shepherd leads them through their day, and they follow confidently because they know His voice.

The sheep will never follow a stranger. They will stop short and even run the other way if a stranger should try to lead them. Why? They don't recognize a stranger's voice. ("I don't know who that is, but it's not my Shepherd!")

So how do we actually become a person of prayer? I could give you four easy steps to becoming a person of prayer. The problem is, while you would then know the steps, you probably still would not be praying much.

You see, unfortunately, the only way most of us will become people of prayer is the hard way. While the gift of prayer is always ours, while the privilege of listening for the voice of our Shepherd is always ours, it is not until we are desperate enough that we finally become still before the Shepherd, re-center on the Shepherd and begin to receive from the Shepherd.

To the degree that we have options and possibilities still available to us, we will probably pursue those options before we pursue Jesus. But when we finally run out of answers and options and come to the end of ourselves, then we will seek Jesus and find He is already calling us by name.

It's then that we start to learn that listening for Jesus can be our first response not our last resort.

Be with Jesus.
