Question for the day:
Why do we take time to pray?
What can we pray with YOU about today?
Good morning,
This is just a reminder that every day, while we are studying God’s Word to add to our website, someone from our ministry, Dysmas Conduit, is holding you up before the Lord in prayer. May He greatly bless you today as you pursue His will and He is glorified through you.
God’s blessings, our love,
George & Sidney Granger

ENCOURAGEMENT FOR TODAY

"My peace I give you."
John 14:27
Peace. Where is mine?
So much is swirling around! There is so much uncertainty! The storm clouds are gathering and the thunder is clapping!
Where is my peace?!
Actually, I have already been given it. Jesus gave it to me with His Spirit in my baptism. I don't have to go find it. I don't have to conjure it up. "My peace I give you." In fact, His peace is already part of the fruit (or result) of His Spirit living in me.
So where is my peace?
Perhaps part of our problem is that we misunderstand what peace is. It is not an absence of turmoil or uncertainty. It is not a cessation of storm or thunder.
Peace is having been given wholeness in my inner being through a restored relationship with God the Father through the death and resurrection of God the Son by the power of God the Holy Spirit. Peace is having joy in the uncertainty. Peace is not the stilling of the storm but the Spirit of God stilling me even while the storm rages on.
Ruth Graham recalls a story in her book, "Fear Not Tomorrow, God is Already There."
Once there was a man who decided to hold an art contest to find the painting that would best depict peace. Artists from all over submitted their work. On the appointed day, officials unveiled numerous paintings in front of an audience until only two were left.
The first depicted a placid lake, perfectly still, reflecting the varied red tones of sunset as sheep grazed nearby. The audience became quiet with awe. Surely this painting would take the prize.
Then the remaining work was unveiled. You could hear the crowd draw breath.
A huge waterfall roared down a cliff face. Storm clouds overhead hung low, dark and threatening. Suddenly, something startling came into view. Right at the edge of the massive falls was a small, skinny tree. In one of its branches, a tiny bird had built a nest. She was resting there on her eggs. This was the winning scene.
Yes, much swirls around us. Uncertainty seeks to unnerve us. We'd like the thundering to stop. But until it does, we can trust God. We can receive what He already has given us... His peace, His Spirit, His ability to rest even as the storm spends its strength.
Thank You, Jesus, for your peace. I trust You again today. Amen.
Who can you help live life with Jesus today?

John MacArthur has an answer to that question . . .
and other tough questions related to the sovereignty of God . . .
